Downs Mfg

345 Desoto,

FYI ,these are the same people I gave my money to.When I placed my order it was Downs Mfg. They have been avoiding my calls or emails for over a year.
Why do you have to speak for them. Why can't they reply to my response and explain the situation to me. It was his wife Vickie that received all my payments and later avoided my calls and emails. I did all my dealings with her. No,they are not responsible for cleaning up Legend's mess but they are responsible cleaning up their own. They made the mess with Legend not me. I know it's two sides to every story, you have heard mine so get them on the forum so everyone can hear their's. I can prove everything I said.
If they are not willing to talk and just have people like you speak for them,it sound like they are just trying to fool the people into doing business with them again.

I have said what I beleive to be the case. I make it a POINT not to argue with a computer screen. As far as I'm concerned that's about the end of this discussion for me.

Trouble is, we can't force theswe companies to come on here to defend themselves.....and I don't think it's the forums place to contact them with these issues........

Downs Mfg

poncho62,

I was not asking the forum to contact anyone, but if you beleive that these are great people and someone implied that there are two sides to every story then let the other side be heard. This is my final discussion with this because people beleive what they want. But the truth of the matter is I paid Downs Mfg (invoice say Downs Mfg not Legend Motors) in full for a car I did not receive all the parts for. If someone wants to continue to do business with them that's find with me. I'm only telling you what happen to me, in my eye they are not the great people that some members of this forum is saying. End of discussion

32 Roadster body got here today...and its REALLY nice. The door/trunk lid gaps are perfect, all the way around, and they fit absolutely flush. I'm VERY satisfied with the fit and finish...not to mention the price. Body number is Downs Industries #31...

It's still in the driveway, in the crate. Had to cover it back up...rain on the way. Will get some pictures up as soon as I can, but it basicly looks like the pictures I Posted that Downs sent me. It will be out there for a while. Need to finish the front end. Rear end (Lincoln Versailles 9") is done, and will be picking up the frame this week -end. As soon as I can get the frame onto the front and rear end, we can uncrate it permenantly, and flop it on the frame...

Disgrunteled

Hello all:
New here but had to speak up.
Legends defaulted on there contract with Downs shortly after the purchase. They stayed long enough to get all the inventory and then bug out.

Jamie is trying to pull the business back together, all the old guys are still there and customer satisfaction is still job one.

All parts are still the best you probably can buy that I've seen. As for Running boards that don't fit, well every one knows you have to make these fit. If you think you can just bolt every thing up, you must not have ever purchased fiberglass parts before.

I have lived in the Lawton area for 32 years and Seen this company from its start. Nobody is more committed to quality and customer satisfaction than Downs.

With the economy in such shape its in, you can imagine how tight it is every were.
I'd suggest reopening the lines of communication again with Downs, I may be wrong , but Jamie will go out of his way to satisfy you.

Keep building those cars.
Al

Sweet ride Mikymike. I have a 38 Chevy in the garage I've been trying to get going on for the last 15 years. Its in early stages, but I hope to get some time this winter and get it at least in WIP condition.

I just had to speak up about Downs. My son works for Jamie now and I have heard allot about what Legends did to there name. Its a shame, Jamie is working hard to mend the broken pieces.

They have some new stuff, Mussel car era Vet and changes to other units.
The Layed-Back-Vicky is probably there premier unit.

Take care, May see you at a show some were.

Down's old web site (downsmfg.com) is not working as of this post. Did they change to a different URL due to all of these problems with the old company, if so does anyone have the latest URL.

This is the site you want:

http://www.downsspecialtyvehicles.com/

I also have a Downs body car and I love it. Sent Vicky an email not long ago with a question, and she replied. I hope everything works out for these folks as they do have a reputation for building quality vehicles.

Ron..

Bum,ping an old thread.

Any updates on Downs?

Like a good newb I found this thread via a search.

Is Downs still trucking along as far as filling orders & quality goes?

I like their '32 Roadster with the hideaway sof top, so I'm trying to learn all I can about it.
