Drag raced my mild BigBlock

I drag raced my 79 camaro this last friday night with the new rear end. It has a .070 454 block with a 4.25 stroke and flat top pistons.GM signature series heads with 2.30 valves and bowl work. The heads have 290 cc runners and flow 332.5 at .600 lift. It has about 9 to 1 compression with the 110 combustion chambers. Erson flat tappet cam .637 lift 292 288 advertised duration, 250 258 at .050. Edelbrock Victor O 4500 intake with adapter and mighty demon 850, with 80 jets up front and 88s in back.This set up seems to show a little on the lean side on the plug, but the number 11 Champion plugs are just the right heat range. It has 2 1/8 Hooker Super Comp headers taperd down to a 3 inch exhaust and turbo mufflers. TKO600 tranny with a ford 9 inch with 4.10 gears and 28 x 10 dot slick. It shows about 8 inches with a tape measure that hits the road with a 9 inch rim. The best pass letting the clutch out at 2000 was 11.335 at 121.85 mph. 1.591 60 foot 7.265 1/8th mile at 96.97mph. The best mph was 122.90 at 11.375. I drove the car their and back home. Im happy with it, and it just might get 10s yet.

We finally made a shakedown with the DragLuv truck this weekend. It's not anywhere close to a street legal vehicle though.

496" BBC, Merlin III heads(ported by me) 13-1 comp, Big CompCams solid roller 1050 Dominator and such... Went 6.36@110 in the 1/8 with no burnout, no transbrake, and no real tuning....then it started raining. We'll get some test time this wekk, maybe, and get it into the 5's with some diligent tuning, and luck.

Nice numbers there for a street car, very nice. I know plenty of guys that would be happy with a time slip like that from their dedicated race cars.

When we were at the track racing a buddy of mine pointed out a nice looking Dodge Challenger race car. Off the trailer loping its rear off on race gas it was only running 11.10s. I feel better about my pass when I see stuff like that, but a guy still wants the next number lower when your that close. Im still around 36 total timing and with a fatter jet change who knows maybe 11.20s. Ive never tried more timing on it, but with the shift light on 6000 by the time I shift Im at 6500. In my first post I said advertised duration was 292 but looking the card over it was 296. Not that anyone might care. I had to keep duration short with the low compression. If I could do the whole combination over I would start with about a 320 AFR head on 10 to 1 compression.
