drip rails

Has anyone ever removed the drip rails on a 73-87 chevy pickup? How does is affect water intrusion into the cab? I was going to post this over at the 47-present chevrolet board

drip rails

i had a 73 , murder on keeping you and seat dry .
i seen them next year on a 74 , went in parts department and ordered me a set .
unless you plan on a show , no wet ride , i'd keep them on .
you can't buy them now , i believe , unless there repops .
i save good ones when i see them .

Thank you, This will be a daily driver so I had better keep them then. I have a couple of sets that are in great shape but I was just thinking of cleaning the truck up a bit. I am thinking of welding my cab seam flush unless this will affect the structure of the cab. I just want to have a clean smooth truck so maybe I will find a way to incorporate them.

drip rails

i've seen them take the permanent ones and remove them on the 67 - 72 trucks , for them show type trucks .they remove the wipers on them cause there not driving in bad weather .
but the 73 & up are smooth without the gutters installed .just have to fill the screw holes in them .
my 73 would drown you getting out of after a rain , or wet the seat as you climbed in to go somewhere .

My '06 Ford F350 Super Crew - no drip rails - that means I get wet, my upholstery gets wet, my door panels get wet every time it rains. That means all 4 doors as well. I don't have a choice either.

Also, on the off chance if you ever want a clamp on roof rack - without gutters, good chance on having a leak past the clamps
