Post driveshaft

the yoke on my driveshaft only goes about an inch or so into my transmission, do i need to get a smaller yoke and put it on, and if so will it still fit or do i have to get another driveshaft. thanks for the help

sorry, i have a 85 buick regal that i put a 350 in and the transmission i got for it the guy say's it is a metric. but the driveshaft yoke only goes about an inch or so into the tailshaft of the transmission and then stops, hope this is better info, thanks
