driveshaft legnth

ive finally got some money so im finsihing my camaro project. im ordering a 9 inch housing from currie, and used 9 in cariers are cheap on ebay. i was just wondering how much i need to cut down my driveshaft going from the gm 7.5 to the ford 9 and does it cost more to cut aluminum diveshafts? also will the stock u joints work or do i need a diffrent yoke on the ford?

There are 3 different FORD yokes that were installed on 9" differentials.
Yoke length and Ujoint size changed with the yokes.
Install your drive shaft into the trans until it bottoms. Pull it back out 1" to 1 1/4" and measure from the center of the front Ujoint to the center of the pinion yoke (where the U Bolts go in). Then measure the span of yoke (between the tabs) and the cup size of the yoke. Give the center to center measurement and yoke info to your driveshaft guy. Aluminum shafts are much more difficult and expensive to change than a steel shaft.
