Post Driveshaft to short

I have a 78 buick electra witch had a 403 that I swaped out to a 455, every thing bolted right up used same tranny that was in car "TH 400" drove car for a couple weeks, ran great, then started vibrating over 40 mph, I Wanted to see what would happen if I hit the brakes, the driveshaft came out from the tranny.I put it back in, gets me home I look at the yoke and it looks like it should go in the tranny another 1 1/2-2 inches thats wear the wear is on the yoke. transmission mount doesnt look off dont believe rear end moved back. any advice would be appreaciated

the trans is bolted in the same place as before? Is the mount broken? seems weird that it woiuld be fine all this time and just fall out for no reason now. I would look for something broken.

with the rear end off the ground the drive shaft will hang out of the trans the max that it ever will, it might be out around 2" from where it sits at ride height. are the motor mounts broken also, because even if the trans mount is broke the motor mounts will hold the trans from moving forward if they are not broken. Your problem should be obvious, with a good once over inspection you should be able to find it.

Is it the rear end jacked up all the way or the rear part of the chasis jacked up all the way, that the driveshaft will come out the most it ever will

Problem solved! 2 piece driveshaft 1 piece shifted into the other I guess that extra power caused it. got a 1 piece from the junk yard and its rollin again
