Driveshaft woes

Just picked up drive shaft for my t5 and it is different from the last one I had this one has a counterwieght on one end and my last one didn't I was wondering what this drum counterweight was for and what drive shaft should I use.

More than likely the weight is just opposite
the seam in the tube, you do want it balanced,
don't you??

The weight is for balance. Some of them have two or three weights or none at all....just depends on the balance. If its not balanced it will vibrate and shake on ya.

My mistake

I guess I should have said it is like a vibration damper Its 5 inches in diameter and its right behind the front universal.

Seen several like it...

I drive to truck (particularly flat-bed), this meens that I see the underside of way too many rigs every day. I tounds just like you said, a harmonic balancer. It should regulate the balance and vibration to give a really good quiet ride...
