I have had a Magnum brand strait axle with a 4 inch drop under my 30 Model A for years with no trouble. It uses GM discs, rotors, and brake pads for easy replacement.

if you want a drop axle i would have to secont the magnum brand. but save up some more cash and get the new forged aluminium unit, its less that half the weight and should really give nice handling and smoother ride with the reduced unsprung weight.
