dropped axle

I have a 1948 Ford and want to install a dropped axle - is this a relatively easy thing to do? Will I need to get any other parts than the strecthed axle? I have read a few articles on the subject and it looks like it can't be all that hard to do.

Here is web site to Nostalgia Sids Dropped Axles, he has a shop about a block away from where I work and seems to be a great guy. He gets blast sand from us to clean his axles. He should be able to help with your questions if you contact him.
