Dropped Axle Dimensions???

Hi,

Does anyone know from what point to what point the amount of drop for a dropped axle is measured?

For example, a 4" dropped tube axle is 4" from the center of the 2" axle tube to what point? Or is it from the top or bottom of the 2" axle tube to what point?

Where is the center of the spindle in relationship to this dimension?

I am designing a custom frame for a '34 Ford pickup in CAD and I do not have access to a tube axle for physical measurments.

Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas,

JimG

JimG,

You measure from the center of the straight part of the axle to the center of the bent part of the axle.

Thanks for the reply, Scholman.

From your description, I assume this measurement is from the center of the spindle ("center of the bent part of the axle") to the center of the axle ("straight part of the axle"). Is this correct?

Thanks again and Merry Christmas,

JimG
