Drying times for taping on Base coat.

I need some information on the time required to tape on base coat. Is it required for the paint to be completely dry, or is there some time that taping can be done before that. I am trying to do a stripe on the hood, using a different color and need to tape it off first. I have sprayed the base coat for the first color already. I want to spray the second color, and then clear the entire hood. Thanks for all the help.

I want it to be dry..you can check by putting a piece of tape in the area to shot and see if it lifts the base..if it does wait a while longer..

Sam

Thank you Sam. I done just about that a little while ago and lucked out, as it did not pull the base coat. I went ahead and painted the other base, then the clear. Worked out okay. A little wet sanding, buffing, should be good for a driver. Thanks again. K.C.
