This is not my opinion: I retired from DuPont after 27 years and Imron of old was never used as an OEM auto paint. Yes it was used by some people on cars with varying results. It's primary use has always been as an industrial coating primarily in the petro chemical industry for it's resistance to corrosives. As far as I'm aware of Boeing did not play a part in developing Imron, it has always been a DuPont product.

Imron has become a generic trade name for a number of DuPont paints. Lately however Dupont seems to be capitalizing on the name Imron as it now has a line of automotive paints that carry the trade name DuPont� Imron� Elite Express, which are just two component urethane. Make no mistake, it is not the Imron of old, or the industrial Imron.

Your right it was an Aircraft paint..and YES the Jobbers were getting it and it WAS being used on cars..Not by Macco..but by the back yard guys
YEs your right the New imron is not the Imron of old....

I am more guilty than Most about this
But I do wonder Why poeple ask for opinion about changing the mixing ratios
when it comes to paint
I still feel a beginner should always follow the tech sheet

So I should not admit to using lacqure thinner to reduce Urethane base on the cheap...
