Dual alternators?

Hi there,

Basically I was just curious as to what advantages I would get out of having dual alternators? I am currently running a single 100AMP alternator in my 350 sbc daily road car but have been offered a second one cheap. will it be in any way worth while? or are dual alternators purely for larger applications/large sound systems etc?

Cheers

I believe one alternator having enough capacity for the electrical system will be more efficient than two smaller units.

As long as the 100A alternator you have now is keeping up w/the demand, you wouldn't gain anything by doubling up.

If it fits your vehicle and is a VERY good price, I would say to store it until a later date when you may need it, like if your alternator were to go bad.
