Dual inlet/single outlet Flowmaster SUV 50 Series Muffler for AMC 304
Hello everyone,
I have ordered Flowmaster SUV 50 Series muffler with dual 2 1/4" inlets and single 3" outlet for my new project the Jeep CJ-7 with V8 AMC 304 engine. As you might be aware, the cj has very limited space underneath for the exhaust specially when it comes with TH-400 tranny and Quadra Trac transfer case. For this reason, I wanted to use an exhaust muffler with 2 inlets and a single outlet, but this was the only thing I found. So, I ordered it from Summit and very soon it'll get here, but just yesterday I went to Flowmaster website to check some exhaust sounds , where I read that this SUV 50 Series muffler is for large displacement cars and or early era muscle cars. Now, I'm worried if this muffler is going to hurt my performance or not? Does anybody have any answers for that? Meanwhile, I wanted to know if a 2inlet/1outlet muffler could also act as a cross over or do you still suggest an x or h pipe??? BTW, anyone have any experience with the sound of this muffler? Am I gonna be too quiet like a stock muffler??? Thanks very much guys. I apprecaite all your comments. Thanks, Houman

It won't hurt performance but it will make a rumble. It also won't act as a crossover so I'd suggest to install an X pipe after the headers. You can get that through Summit as well and will be a worthwhile addition to the exhaust. It will mellow out the resonance under cruise conditions.
