dumb question

ok a dumb question.
what size bolt holds the starterbrace to the engine?
im going to need a tap to clean mine.

i have gone through probly 10 starters this year and im finally got a brace from summit.

The bolts are different for different years. I'm not sure of the exact sizes. When your starter comes in get new bolts for your year motor.

Take your old bolts out and grind the threads flat on one side and the other. it will have two flat spots adjacent from each other.

Use this to clean the threads.Spray wd40 into the holes first. Screw it in a turn then out 1/2, in a turn out 1/2

I also do this with head bolts, bellhousing bolts...whatever needs cleaned.

i dont have the bolt.
im need to get one.

its a 78 350 4 bolt main truck engine non metric.

i need to go to work pretty soon and i can pick one up if somebody tells me what i need

5/16 coarse thread..............if you are talking about the bolt that goes into the block at the front of the starter.

the bolt that goes through the starterbrace hole and then into the bolt hole in the side of the engine.

it is bigger than thevalve cover bolts but smaller than the intake bolts.
