Well, I swapped out the ol' generator for a one wire alternator. Could someone tell me if theres a way to hook up the idiot light with a one wire alternator? Also, does it really matter if its not hooked up? I've removed all of the old wiring from the generator except the idiot light wire. I thought I read somewhere that the circuit for that light was somehow crucial. Oh, by the way, this is on a 1960 Impala. Any info will be helpful. Thanks!!!

On the factory alternators the charging indicator light is connected to the #1 terminal on the Alternator. I'm not sure if the One wire alternator will turn the charging light off on it's own because the factory alternators had a wire coming from the Bat terminal on the alternator to the #2 terminal on the alternator. Try just connecting the chagrning indicator to #1 and if it doesn't go out connect a wire from the bat terminal to the #2 terminal and it should go out.
