Dune Buggy

I have someone that wants me to paint a dune buggy using metal flake. After bodywork, primer/sealer , spray base then apply metal flake mixed in intercoat clear ?? Apply clear after this ? What size flake to use ?

I have to tell you, first off, I am no custom painter. But I have sprayed a little "flake" like the old dune buggies had from the factory. I like to call it "Bass boat flake". It is sometimes sprayed in a urethane clear. But you can also "dump" it on, or spray it out of a gun without any clear, just the flakes. It takes a LOT of clear to bury this stuff! I mean, a LOT, many, many coats.

Do some test panels before you try it on such a job.

try and talk them into the smallest flake size possible, that will save you a lot of work, not to mention a lot of clear.
