Question Dupont "Nason"

Anybody have any experience with the Nason line of paint by Dupont? I've been told that it is a one step, and is cheaper than the centari. Also what kind of primer should I use under it?? I am painting metal (already primed with two part Vari-Prime) and gel coated fiberglass. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Haven't used Nason paint in a long time but I'll tell you what I remember about it. Yes it's a cheap paint and properly sprayed will look good for a while but it will not hold up for a long time. We used to use it on used cars that were to be sold at the auctions. I personally would not use it on anything that I planned on owning for a long time. Remember with auto paints you get what you pay for.Good quality paints are not cheap.

Ok nix the Nason. What should I use? I'm painting a glass T-bucket, and frame, planning to do it all in the same Intense Blue Pearl that Dodge pickups have. I don't have much painting experience, but have done EVERYTHING else on the car, and think I can paint it too! I think I want to use a single stage paint instead of a base coat clear coat just for the simplicity of it, but need to know if I'm looking at this wrong. I plan to flame it and need to know if I need to clear over them. If so, maybe a base coat clear coat isn't such a bad idea after all???

If the Dodge color that you plan to use is the same one that I think it is, it is probably not available in a single stage paint. All of the metallic and pearls that I spray on a daily basis at my job are base coat clear coat paints. I personally use Sikkens Autobase Plus paint and Auto Clear III clear coats. It's one of the more expensive paints on the market but gives excellent results on the high end cars that we repair. You might try the DuPont line of paint or PPG. An alternative would be to prepare the car for paint very carefully and then taking it to a good shop to have it sprayed for you. It might cost you a bit more but the results should be worth it in the long run.Yes the flames will have to be cleared over
