dying the headliner

im changing the color of the interior from grey to black. has anybody dyed the headliner and if so how did it come out and what did you use.....

What car? What year? What is the headliner made of? You are asking for a mess unless you take the headliner out and put it back in. If it was me, I'd buy or make a new headliner. I'll bet it would cost less than dyeing what's there now. If dyeing it doesn't turn out, you'd be replacing it anyway.

I painted the headliner (in place) in my Maverick, from blue to black using SEM SureCoat and the appropriate cleaners. It came out better than I had hoped for, in fact you cannot tell it from an original black headliner! For that matter, it was Dan who turned me on to SEM through Thad at Vinylpro.

My first inclination was to recommend SEM products, but I don't think I would try to do that without knowing what the headliner was made of and what car we're talking about. If the headliner is vinyl, and the interior is out of the car, SEM is a no-brainer. If the headliner is cloth, it would make more sense to me to just replace it with a fresh, new headliner.
