I always thought that a modern EFI system could handle ethanol, but I am surprised to hear that you didn't see much loss of MPG, that might be because they were normal engines not specially tuned by the manufacturers. FFV's are typically lower compression than ordinary Gas motors, I think it must be a conspiracy. As the oil companies have been boosting the Octane of Gas with Ethanol For Years most cars with an ECU should be able to do a KIT2000 (night rider) easy. Carbs and timing of that older Dodge D100 car would have needed adjusting by hand and can be a pig.
