E Bay Stores--yes or no

Anyone buy from Falcon Global or Fast Engine Parts on E-bay?
Are they reputable?

I bought a set of NIB srp pistons from them last week, the shipping was fast and they were about half the price of anywhere else. The only thing I didnt like was how they were pakaged when shipped, other than that they were great.

Watch out for Pro-Comp

I've bought a few things from E-bay HEI ignition and a High flow water pump. They were made by a company called Pro-Comp and are made in Asia. Now I've heard that Pro-Comp were cheaply made parts and prone to failure. I have these parts on my motor right now but the motor has not been run since the rebuild. So I'm not sure if its true but be sure of what you buy on E-Bay. Hey I'll post a question about it and we'll see what other members say about it.

You get what you pay for, I've learned that lesson well. There are times when it is better to buy a used part than some of the cheap crap that comes around on some of those stores. When you can buy a chromed part for the same price as a NOS or repro part, buyer beware.

I bought my Hastings rings and Clevite bearings from Falcon Global on ebay. This was AFTER I spoke with them on the phone. The parts were as described.

as a top rated eBay seller, I have seen it come a long ways since I joined in 2k3. the rules for sellers are a lot more strict than even a couple years ago. I regularly buy and sell there, mostly buying from other Top Rated Sellers but I will buy from individuals with 98% or above rating and no recent claims.

budthespud, sounds like you didn't do your homework before purchasing and have buyers remorse. please do not blame eBay sellers for selling cheap parts at cheap prices, you get what you pay for in any establishment/transaction. if you look, you can find reputable brands at good prices too, but you gotta get through all the pages of chinese junk to find them.

buy smart

You're right I didn't

Thing is with me is I live pretty much in the country, My wife is disabled and I really do not have much of anyone to relate to about restoring vehicles other than this site. Most of what I do has been self taught, watching programs on TV or online and what stuff I've read on this site. Yes I know it was a price you can't beat deal with these parts and through ups and downs in working on vehicles I should of known. I do know now and I haven't bought much since on E-Bay but it doesn't mean I won't in the future. I most likely stay away from the mechanical stuff and stay with the bolt on stuff like carpet, trim, seals etc.... At least this way my chances of having to send it back because it broke down or having to replace it won't happen as easily. If I bought it from a speed shop in town it maybe a 1/2hr away but at least I have a face to face with the parts guy. Things you learn from your mistakes I guess eh?

It depends on your situation as you described. If your limited, you may not have a choice. I've had good experience with ebay as have my friends. Expensive parts, I'd contact the seller and inquire about the quality of the parts and their policy about returning them, warranty, etc. There is always negative feedback and I usually check the comments that others posted about the seller. I stopped using ebay because of the shipping costs. The cost of the parts are reasonable, but when you add the ridiculous shipping costs, you can get the item at a retail store and not have to wait several weeks for the item to arrive in the mail. (plus you know where they work!) I'd also check places like Summit Racing, JC Whitney and many other reputable speed equipment suppliers who have a good reputation. They'll ship anywhere.
