early ford rear transverse spring re-attach

I have a 39 ford. Rear transverse leaf spring is attached on one side...how do I get it lined up on the unattached side so I can put the shackle plates back on?

There is a tool for that. It is a spring spreader. I have one

It is a piece of pipe with each end threaded ... one Right hand and one left hand. As you turn the pipe in the middle ... the tool ex-spans ... or retracts ... depending on which way you turn the pipe.

The one in the photo is a store bought one. Mine is homemade.
I got the photo off eBay.
