early nova disk brake conversion

i have a 66 nova. as you may know, they only came with drum brakes, and small ones at that. i know you can get kits to swap the front brakes to disks but they run about $600 and up. my question it if there are any other model cars/trucks whose spindles/etc. would fit my Nova. it is already a 5 lug and i can get special disk brake spindles but if there are others that will fit i would like to know. also, what would be the difference in rotors for a 69 and up Nova and the ones that would come in the conversion kit. i understand the concepts of all this i'm just not sure that all of the terms i've used are correct and i may be totally off base on what i think will work but let me know please. if anyone has performed a similar conversion and could offer me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,

The National Nostalgic Nova Club used to machine drum brake spindles for disc brake use for ~$75 on an exchange basis. Maybe they still do. Contact info is at the bottom of this page: http://nnnova.com/discbrakes.html
