early s-10?

hey everyone, a few years ago my grandfather passed away, and left me his truck. a 1989 dodge ram 50 in awesome shape. the truck has served its purpose as general transportation, and i would like to turn it into a street/strip truck. im in the process of finishing building my 1969 cutlass, so i do have mechanical experiance. the motor in the truck is very tired, and i would love to do a smallblock chevy swap, but im pretty confused with this truck. i understand this truck is a dodge ram 50, but it looks extremely similar to an earlier s-10, even with the space in the engine compartment. i was just wondering if the frame is similar to the s-10. im pretty sure im gonna have to fabricate a set of mounts, but i've never seen anybody put a v8 into this truck yet. any input would be appreciated, thank you

For heaven's sake if you're going to put a V8 in that truck put in a small block MOPAR! There are enough cookie cutter small block Chevy's running around already.

Sorry Centerline, but a Chevy guy just has to do whats right............... ......in our minds anyways...

it's not a bolt in by any means, you probably would have to fabricate pretty much everything.

Might be easier, and cheaper in the long run to go with the SB Mopar.......you can get factory parts for it.

D-50

I believe the D-50's were imports. Mitsubishi comes to mind.

Heres one for ya, take that little Dodge and put a 289- 302 in it and really be different, besides that they are smaller and might fit a little better and that coming from a guy that has a Chevy in a Ford.

Even that's better than a small block Chevy.
