eating up starters

my starter recently went bad on my roadmaster so I replaced it, 2 days later the bendix went out on it again. could some one tell me y? also when I took it out it had no shims

What do you mean by went out? Electrically? Mechanically?

the bendix took a crap, the starter spins but the bendix dosn't engage to spin the flywheel

Bendix? Do you mean the solenoid?

no, the little gear loooking thing inside the starter that jumps up and spins the flywheel when you turn the key to start the car. you know what the bendix is, or what I mean don't ya?

he probably meens the drive wont engauge but starter still spins.
sounds like ya just got a bad one. try getting a new one instead of a reman.

ya, thats what my 'ol lady is doing right now is taking it back for a new one. I figured I'd try it one more time before I flip me lid

Never had a problem with my autozone starter. Neither has anyone I know who has bought one. Of course we went with new units. Their starters are just as good as the ones you get from any other parts outlet and more likely than not are made in the same place to the same standards.
