Eaton Compressor Pump & Motor Made in China?
I recently ordered (but I have not received) a 2 stage Eaton Compressor. I went with the Eaton because I found nothing but good reviews. I assumed (very stupid on my part) that this was a USA made unit. Until tonight when I came across the Garage Journal and found this:
Reply per Steve Derr (Sales for Eaton Compressor) The motor is an Eaton brand and is built in China, the pump is also built in China by the same ISO 9000 company that has been building pumps for us for years. Thanks, Steve I hope I did not make a mistake ordering this compressor, I try to avoid tools made in China for obvious reasons. Can someone please chime in with their experiences. Also can anyone confirm that Eaton truly uses Chinese parts? |
There are high quality parts made in China. It is up to the U.S. company to make sure that those offshore parts are up to their standards. Unfortunately as we have seen not all U.S. companies do that.
The man at Eaton has told you they use parts made in China...what other confirmation do you need? Vince |
I did not post that Steve told me they were made in China, I got that info from another forum.
Update I talked to Steve this morning and he confirmed the above is true but he also said that "97percent of the compressors made today also carry this with them, but they don't advertise it (they lie)". I don't like it but unfortunately I don't have much of a choice. Eaton now comes with a 5 year warranty on the pump and I can't find anything but positive feedback about them (besides the China stuff), so I guess time will tell. |
Eaton is a very good, high quality compressor that you will be happy with once you get it regardless of where it is made. I felt something similar when I first heard this but then got to thinking that I was real happy with it before & it does everything I want or need it to do so why should I be unhappy with it now? Anymore you can't get away from 'made in china', I bought an Ingersol Rand IR-121 super duty air hammer thinking it was made here, wrong, made in china. I prefer to buy american made but want quality either way. About the only thing I would really get upset about is if something was represented as 'made in USA' & when I got it found out different, especially after spending extra money for that reason.

What I don't like about the made in China thing, besides some of the quality issues is this. When a well known U.S. firm has something made in China that used to be made over here, and they charge you more than what the U.S. made part used to cost  . You know d&^% well they saved a ton on labor, but did they pass that on to you? Heck no they just compounded the profit by charging the same or higher price as the U.S made item.

As long as you're getting a quality product that performs as advertised it doses't matter where it's made. Sadly enough, "Made in the USA" is a thing of the past. It's a bitter pill to swallow but we had better get used to it. China owns our debt, they are building a blue water navy, and are starting to buy up our assets. The parting out of America. God, if I could type I'd be a dangerous man. Dave 39

Educate yourself about the coming merger of Canadian, US and Mexican commerce with the dollar being replaced by a common currency called the Amero. Look it up on the net you will be shocked, it is not republican or democrat.

And it reminds me, nationalized children's healthcare seems a bit, um, socialistic to me. Besides, my kids (someday, don't really feel like getting the gf preggo'd) are not your responsibility (via tax dollars). They should be my responsibility to care for and ensure that they recieve adequate medical care. It is only a foot in the door for complete nationalized healthcare. :pain: |
I have been sitting here thrying to think of ANY tool not made in China and have drawn a blank. Used to be able to tell because the American version cost 2 to 3 times more than the Chinese version but not any longer. Even the $$$$$$$$ versions are Chinese now.
And yes, Demoncrat and Republikan alike are committed to yielding our sovereignty to the United Nations. Soon to come is a 'world tax' on our income so we pay our fair share. This will be a stealth tax paid out of the general fund and passed by congress at midnight some obscure day but it will definitely be a personal tax on your generation of wealth. I have been reading the best book I have ever found and highly recommend it to anyone who thinks things in the US are not quite right somehow. It is The 5000 Year Leap: The 28 Great Ideas That Changed the World by W. Cleon Skousen. Get it at Amazon or your books store. I promise you won't be disappointed. |
