Eaton supercharger question

I have seen a lot of people retro fit eaton superchargers to their cars. I was wondering would it be possible to block off the intake and re cut the intake to the top of the blower like in a 6-71? For example, the Magnason MP122. For all intents and proposes the carb version looks the same as the other unit except for where the air inlets. Just wondering if it could work. http://www.magnusonproducts.com/mp122Carb5thgen.htm

Thanks

Sure it's possible. Backyard hot rodders have been doing this for years. Do some careful calculations concerning drive pulley location first, assuring proper belt alignment. Then, you can determine how to customize the intake manifold to accept the blower.

That's not his question. He's asking about machining the blower case for a top-mount inlet. The Eaton superchargers have a rear throttle body inlet. I am doubtful that this mod will be successful, since it affects sealing of the rotors. The fact that the aftermarket unit has the opening on top doesn't tell you anything about the helix angle on the rotors or the internal shaping of the case.

Thanks Joe. I'd be concerned about warping the case by welding on a carb adapter. The Magnuson site says the blower can be laid on edge. What if you used the EFI inlet with a fabricated carb adapter and manifold adapter. I don't know, you may have more money in it than the whole thing is worth.

The other thing is, I'd want to know if the seals would tolerate gasoline, being that they were designed for just air.
