I'm working on a '41 Chevy 4 door for my wife,, our intention is to make it into a cruiser that she'll drive reguarly.


Well I found an old '41 Chevy Owners Manual on Ebay, wrapped in saran wrap with a cardboard backing. Since her birthday was coming up I bought it thinking it'd be a cool conversation piece she could put in the glovebox.

Fast forward to today (her birthday, she'd kick me in the shins if I tell her age, LOL!). She opened her present and thought it was a pretty gift. Score one for me She wasn't going to open it, thinking it was shrink wrapped. But when I showed her it wasn't shrink wrapped, it was just saran wrap on it she dug in and opened it up. Inside there is 13 order forms for mining supplies dated 1902 for everything from powder and fuse to pick heads and shovels. They're probably not worth much but she thought it was a cool bonus find

That is a bonus find.Do some research into the slips,it will be fun. I have a lot of old papers given to me by my grandparents. I have a laminated and framed newsprint from the local newspaper,dated April 12,1912.It is the sports page,and it is for opening day for the baseball team we used to have here.It and another sports page hang on the wall in my sons room.



And the owners book is cool also.

That newspaper would be , one of a kind for sure by now I'd bet!

I did a quick search on the mining company this morning, but didn't find very much. When I get a little more time I'm going to dig into it a little more.

A long time ago there was a song by Tennessee Earnie Ford, some of the lyrics went " I owe my soul to the company store". I'm thinking maybe that's what these are,, order forms from the company store. Hopefully I'll find something more on them!

After thinking about the manual today while we were working on the car. I think I'm going to scan the cover, and make a "new" owners manual for the car using all the new stuff being put into it and keep the old look for the cover
