Yeah, I got three of those in about a month. They address that on the eBay website, they want you to forward all of those fraudulent emails to them. I think the address is spoof@ebay.com

fraud alert
Unbelievable!!! I checked my e-bay account at work and I got a pay pal alert just yesterday!!! It looked real to me but I waited till I got home and had no e-mail here. You just saved my butt. I have my paypal in a separate account with low limit credit /check card. But it still would have been a bummer had I replied. Thanks again!!! Bob,

We got a slightly different version of that tonight, my wife started freaking that they were going to cancel our account. As soon as she said that I yelled "Do NOT reply to that!!!! It's a scam!!!!" I looked it over and it looked fairly legit until I read the phrase "re-update" and the red flag went up. I accessed my account through the website and there was nothing in My Messages. DELETE!

Yeah, definatly a fraudulant mail, disregard it, woulndt hurt to show ebay too.
Some of the things that give these thigns away are them wanting you to go to that page, that looks like an ebay log in page and log in, but even at that, ebay will never have you do that, they only have you change passwords if there is problems like this. And also, if you do a DNS lookup on the given links, you will find it routes back to something far from ebay. Also, on that same token, you can look at the bottom om the mail, and read the small print, with the copyright, and you will notice it is usually slightly different then the one on a real ebay mail/page. This is to semi-save their butts if they get caught. |
