What do you guys think of these rods for a street/strip 454 with hydraulic cam. Around 500hp. has 3/8 bolts but can use ARP's

They're worth $100, it the S&H that sux, IMHO.

A flat rate USPS box should hold them, they cost no more than ~$13, and could prob. ship in a $9 flat rate box.

You buy a set of used dimple rods for $135, you get them and have the big
end checked for roundness. You find out they need to be resized. You get them
resized with new ARP bolts. So now the good deal cost you $350. Why not
buy new rods with 7/16" cap bolts for $250?

****- I'm NOT saying buy them- I'm saying they are worth $100 and the S&H sucks.

But being the devils advocate- IF they don't need resizing, the 3/8 bolts will hold up fine in a stock to mild rebuild. Cost should be ~ $110 TL.

What I WILL say is buying used parts sight unseen off eBay is a crapshoot, at best. This guy seems legit (w/only 30 transactions), but you never know. And scrimping on rods will be an expensive lesson if they're bad.

cobalt, the listing for the dimple rods is a good price.

It's just when you consider the low price of the new rods, its not cost effective
to buy used rods and pay to have them rebuilt. Now he could buy the used
rods and install as is. This increases the chance of rod/rod bolt failure. Not a
good gamble to take.
