Ecm
I just picked up an 87 s10 and the person i bought it from pulled the original engine out that had bad knock. v6, and replaced it with a 93 v6 same size engine. It will not start, it catches but will not keep running. Acts like it is flooding, or maybe as it catches it decides not to run. I know there is a chip, or chips in the comp. that are referred to as "prom"? The comp. was never swapped out. Or I guess the computer is referred to as ecm. Please correct me if I am wrong about any of this info. If the ecm was not swapped out, would this cause the engine to do what it is doing? As you can see, these newer vehicles are out of my reach, so any help is well appreciated.
