I remember waiting to see the new Hot Rod an Car Craft magazine to se what he was building nexted an loved everyone he built!!! an now they found the Orbatron of all things in front a porn shop in Mexico! an now in the Hot Rod magazine they say a guy bought it off the guy who found it, an doing a complete restore of it, happy that some one is restoring it, we need to keep most our custom built rods out there for our youth to see, an hopefully that one youth may be set to do something with there lives an not crimes, i myself was injuried an was unable to do my hobby, but now i've just got a garage so i can get back into it, while i was laied up i built in my head a car out fiber glass was named phantazime, but need to get some cash built up, the auto world keeps losing it's people, Boyed Coddington, Indian Larry, Big Daddy, as a cartoon showed in HotRod Boyed talking to Sait Peter, saying God need him to build him a car. theres been so many builders in the past we've lost, an we are all at a loss, so all you out there keep building an drawing an doing what we all do best, keep the hobby alive for ever!!!!!!!.

Roth built some great stuff, I have seen a couple of them in museums and they are a kick.

He used to come Oakland roadster shows near my home and would chat with you and tell jokes, he was a one of a kind man. RIP.

Not only did he answer questions, he took suggestions. My buddy who is handicaped and in a wheel chair was with me. He suggested that Roth make a Rat Fink shirt with a wheel chair smoking the tires. The next year he had one!

Back in the late 70's or early 80"s we asked Ed Roth to come to a 4th of July car show we were having. A friend and I picked he and his wife up at the airport in St. Louis and I was so interested in what he was saying that I missed the exit for I-70 and ended up way off the way I needed to go, a 2.5 hour drive turned into 3+. We arrived just in time for him to get into the parade. We had him back a couple of times, great guy to talk to. He used to store his show cars at that friends house if he was showing in the east rather than tow them back west. I still have the rat fink he signed for me.

When we met him at the WOW show we talked as if we had been buddies all our lives. I bought a T shirt and had him sign and date it, not having a clue he would die the very next year. A lot of people were getting his autograph but nobody was asking him to date it. I imagine my shirt that has never been worn is pretty rare in that sense.
