Edelbrock 1406 springs

I picked up this carb and the guy I got it from said it kept flooding no matter what he did so he took it off and put the original carb back on. I cleaned it up and picked up a rebuild kit and started going back together. The floats were about 1/2" off. Checked the jets and needles and they had been changed so I figured I'd change it all back to stock at least for a starting point. So it's all back with the stock needles and jets but I don't know what needle springs were stock or what I should use or how to identify what came in the spring assortment package#1464 as to how they relate to the stock ones. The colors appear to be a pr. of Black,Purple,Red,Silver(plain) and one pair I really can't see if they are colored. If it makes any difference it's a stock(RV) camed 350 1992 from a pick-up. any insite would be appreciated. Thanks, Eric

they go as followes
3in.-blue
4in.-yellow
5in.-orange
6in.-pink
7in.-plain
but as you can see they shorted 1 plain and gave a extra yellow
#4(yellow) is what came stock on the 1406
hope this helps

Stock springs are orange, .098 primaries, .095 secondaries, 75X47 metering rods. Altitude is the big bug-a-boo, but if you're still in Tuscon, that configuration should be all right. Maybe slightly rich. An RV cam doesn't present any issue; it's the more radical camshafts that necessitate the weaker springs, because of poor vacuum. Edelbrock's web-site posts their Performer Series Owners Manual for free. Lots of helpful info.

Thank you all for your help, I just figured it was easier to start back with stock, that way at least I know what's there. Edelbrocks intructions do seem to be a little lacking. Thanks again. Eric

Go by what SSedan64 has writter in post #2, there is no 6" spring, it is skipped over and goes to 7" for pink.

The Edelbrock Perfomer 1406 600CFM electric choke carb was leaner than the 1405 manual choke 600 CFM carb.

The 1406 comes with:
98 primary x 95 2’ndary jets
75 x 47 rods
Yellow (4”) step-up spring

The 1405 (manual choke 600) comes with:
100 x 95 jets
70 x 47 rods
Orange (5”) step-up spring

This info is from a 2005 Edelbrock print catalog, subject to change between then and now.

Calibration kit for carb #1406 is p/n1487. It contains:
Rods- 70x37, 73x42, 73x47
Jets- 95, 98, 101
Step-up springs
