edelbrock 2101 & 1405 HEAT?

Hey guys,
Ive got an edelbrock 2101 aluminum intake and a 1405 600cfm performer carb on a stock SBC 350. Can I get away with not running a spacer plate between the two to dispurse heat. I was told I should have a spacer in there.

I wouldn't think you'd need one. The purpose of a spacer (usually) is to get a slightly better fuel atomization and if its made of some special heat deflection metal, to get a slightly better cooler fuel charge. It might decrease the fuel temperature for the first few minutes, but if it's underhood, it all starts to heat up anyway and any fuel differential you originally had is gone. Now that didn't answer your question.. I'm not too familar with the intake and carb you described and you may NEED a spacer for the bolt combination.. thats another story altogether. Hope this helps a little.
