Edelbrock carb on a Chevy 350

Is there any way to determine what size carb is setting on the engine?

Welcome to Hotrodders. This is the intro forum, but what the heck- the carb number of an Edelbrock Performer (like a Carter) is on the base, front, passenger side. It'll be a number like 1406.

Once you have the number, google is your friend.

The economy-oriented 600 cfm 1406 (square bore, vacuum secondary and electric choke) is the most common model you find in the parts stores, but there are several other carbs in the 1400 series. Some are square bore and others are spreadbore so they can directly replace a quadrajet.

You might want to look at the descriptions on this web site to get an idea of what you have.

Not too sure the Carter-type Performer p/n 14xx carbs come in spreadbore...

Cobalt327 - you are right, my explanation was confusing/wrong. The spreadbore version of the Edelbrock is not numbered 14xx. The spreadbore Edelbrock is 99xx, and it is a remanufactured Quadrajet.

You might know this, I heard the Edelbrock Q-jets were built new for them, I'm guessing by Carter. You know if that's true?
