Edelbrock Carb Won't Idle

Swapped my intake and carb on a 350. Performer EPS and a remanufactured Edelbrock 1406. Doesn't want to idle at all. Have to put the pedal to the floor to get it to run at all. Doesn't rev up when I do this. Runs real rough. Float adjustment?

The floats need to be reset right out of the box. Very sensitive to shock loads during shipping. Also, check your fuel pressure. These carbs don't like more than about 5# of pressure.

not explained real clear in the manual:

the idle circuit is totally independent of the others and the idle circuit air bleed is thru those 2 small brass tubes (exposed to dirt) (next to the rods covers) sticking out the top....

if they are clogged it won't idle....

almost always,,,, zapping them with a shot of spray choke/carb cleaner (or wd40 whatever) using the extension tube taped to the can will clear them....

won't hurt/might cure it/try that first...

Thanks for all the replies. Adjusted the choke and revved it up, must have blown some dirt out of the idle circuit. Running decent for now, will tune it up tomorrow. Thanks again.

your welcome....

sometimes just different wording of a explaination (for anything) versus the manual really helps....

Edie carbs have been covered many many times in detail on this board so for a quicker answer and time shortcut try using the search function...

LOL,,,"choke????",,,mine is pinned to stay open with a zip tie,,,it's the one (primative) original oem linkage design function I do wish they had improved...

I don't need it here in FL but it is wise to use one to raise the block temp ASAP for less wall wear....

happy holidays
