Edelbrock EP4B vs Performer Intake Manifold

I can't seem to find too much info on the EP4B intake manifold. Is it really just an older version of the Performer or is there a difference in specs and performance? FYI, I am trying to decide on an intake for my Pontiac 400 and the EP4B's are cheaper. Thanks!!

EP4B

i think the EP4B is for the early pontiacs, or that is what Edelbrock said. It is a good intake probably better than a perf as those are about the same as factory stock or cast iron.

Well, I don't have numbers but a fair number of the poncho builders over on Performance Years ( http://forums.performanceyears.com/6...m&s=7286011111 ) don't care for the EP4B. Most seemed to say that the stock iron was better flowing. The Performer or RPM seem to get more respect depending on what you hope to do. The stock iron intakes are supposed to flow very well, at or near the same level as the Performer- though the Performer is of course much lighter.

Pontiac Intake Manifold

Thank you!! Your info and the link were very useful. I would love to go with a stock manifold (especially if they flow better or same as the edelbrock). I know there are a # of 4B stock manifolds for the 400. Can anyone suggest a good one?? Casting number??

EP4B

Thanks for the info. I meant to put P4B, not EP4B. As far as stock 4B manifolds go, is anything from '67 to '72 the way to go? And if I go with the stock manifold, they only take a spread-bore carb like the q-jet, right?
