Post EFI 302 non-H.O.

I am just wondering how much power my 88 Towncar 302 makes, the only mods I've done to it is accel wires, coil, cap and rotor,NGK plugs, strait duals dumped under rear end, and cold air intake with cone filter(apc kit for honda accord). Anything would help.

p.s. a guy told me it makes 150hp........but that seems kinda lean considering they make stock 2.0 liters that make that.

Uh...That guy was me... ...

The stock engine is rated at 150hp for that model year. But if you would have noticed, the torque rating wasn't far behind the HO. Your car (and Crowns/Gran Marquis) need hi-torque engines to pull them down the road. It does a very good job of what it was designed for.

If you want better highway performance (it ain't going to be much of strip machine), just start jacking it up to HO standards.

you havent really made any power mods.
what you need is a h.o intake, heads ,and cam. and whammo instant h.o. the 86 mustang had town car motors with the h.o. cam.
then you can make 225 hp.
but stay away from a 86 gt engine. it will have the small heads and intake.

or grab a 5.0 out of a explorer. they are detuned cobra engines.

muahahaha

but if you do swap cams be sure to change your plugs to the new firing order,as the h.o and non h.o cams are two different firing orders.the h.o being the 351 firing order, instead of the standard non h.o .also the h.o pistons are forged and fly cut.the non h.o will not be,no matter what any "ford specialist "says.there is not valve clearence problems.also the non h.o has 14 lb.injectors, the h.o having 19 lb.yeah 150 h.p 270 ft. lbs.out of a V-8 is kinda sad.the h.o was of course 225 h.p and 300 ft lbs .hope this all helps.
