Hi,
EGR = exhaust gas recirculation valve.
It's used to allow a portion of the exhaust gases to be routed back
into the combustion chamber to be re-burnt,
resulting in lower emissions & a cooler more complete burn.

It won't be rich, atleast not enough to notice, but you may find the engine more prone to pinging than before.

egr valve

If the egr valve is stick open it will cause,
rough idling, a vacuum leak, & hesitation.
if stuck closed it can cause knocking (pinging)

Good addition! I forgot that they can stick open too. Seen lots of them back in the day.
