el camino drop spindles

Hi im working on a 1979 el camino and i have a pair of drop spindles for an 82' on el camino, i want to put them on my 79 and i heard that you need hubs and rotors from an 80's, is that all?

I would imagine they would interchange ... Somewhere along in that era ... the lug nuts on the rotors changed from the old standard Chevrolet thread and size to a metric size and thread. As I remember, the angle of the lug nut to wheel also changed. Maybe the rotors did also.

You need advice from someone who knows ... not a old previous 1979 El Camino owner like myself going on 20 year old memories. Mine was a Super Sport Royal Knight. I wore it out twice before I bought a new Silverado.

Huh.........I thought they were all the same from 78 thru 88?

Actually, 1978 A/G body cars used a smaller outer wheel bearing than the 79-88 cars. You can use the 79-88 spindles on a 78 by using the later rotor also. Your 79 Camino will have no problems as is with the drop spindles.

Thanks guys, i got the hubs and rotors off a 87 monte an im planning on putting the drop spindles o in the next day or two

don't forget to grab the lugs from the monte. GM went to metric in 82.
