I have an '86 and I thought the dashes were pretty standard between '79 and '87.

When I do similar type work, I label each connector as it's disconnected with cheap paper sticky tags. Then, as you reassemble and connect items you can just tear the tag off.

Cards

Doc here,

Do Both El Camino's use a cluster Laminate card?

If so get a Cluster schematic for both and compare wire functions at the plug , wire for wire..If the same, and the plugs will fit you should be good.

If you need to change out the plug be sure your wires match the pin numbers on the card as to function..same applies to any wire changes you must make.

Doc
