el camino paint scheme

My 71 el camino might get painted some time this decade. Do you think it would look hokey if the front clip and doors were one color and the bed and roof where another? Somewhat like a black and white cop car? I am hopefully getting at least one quarter and the roof replaced this month, and with any luck, the other quarter too. (Back window rust). That's why I am asking; the cab and bed would be "done" except for the tail gate and doors. The windshield has to come out to do the roof skin, the back window is already out. This way, the window frames can get painted prior to reinstalling the glass, and the edp roof and quarter can all be the same color.

I have been planning to just paint it the factory white with hood stripes(has a cowl hood with pins). I have a white bench and green buckets to choose from. An awesome idea was to make it white and orange like a 69 camaro pace car.
If i was a customizer, I would make this thing look like a NASCAR truck. lol. Is a 71 too new for old school flames?
Thanks.
If you are in the KCK area, go to Greaserama or the Good Guys show. Both cool.

Sounds like this could be interesting, and a fun job. I think it would be cool... but only if you do two things.

Use a "star", Badge", or roof light. That way people will know WHAT you are trying to do. Otherwise they will be scratching their heads going "WTF"?

Secondly, don't just "chop off" the colors. Make it a little stylish by slanting the color seperation... maybe blending it into the roof line at the back of the cab, or rounding it off as it blends into lower body edge.

paint scheme

Just an idea. I wanted to do a full-blown Tony Stewart #20 Home Depot car, (orange is a good color on chevelles), but they switched to toyota and then he quit the team altogether. That and copyright laws. lol Maybe yellow with Yoohoo on the hood.
A while back, they gave away a Richard Petty pontiac circa 1985 in a contest. The window on an elk isn't big enough to crawl through anyway.
There is a popular old so cal racer with a red and white paint job. I had thought about a "shop truck" look with a logo on the doors. Car Craft magazine did that with a 65? el camino. They painted it green and called it el guapo. You could paint it like a tri-5 chevy two tone.
Most likely, it will just be white with ss stripes on the hood.
I could only paint the hood dome and pretend its a shaker hood.
I wanted to drag it for fun, but I don't have any support.
Actually, the front clip could be one color and the firewall back another, if you used a boss mustang style stripe down the cowl.
Thanks for the input.
