Vintage Air makes a nice unit that I used to control my Spal electric fan. It consists of a variable manual rotary switch and a heat probe. The probe can either be screwed into the pet**** bung or just speared through the cooling fins ( not literally). If you are running a/c , you ight want to wire it directly through your compressor circuit, so that it comes on whenever the A/C kicks in and also wire it via a standard relay and set the variable switch at a temperature that you would want the fan to kick on at. If you have an actual heat guage in your system this is very easily done. Wait until the water temperature heats up to the desired temp. and turn the switch control to the position that activates the fan at that level. You can either control the ground interrupt to turn the fan on or switch the power with the relay. Good luck.
