any ideas ?

let me know dan
A 195 'stat will have the coolant at 200 to 205, which keeps your 200 degree switch energized. Either get a 210-220 switch or a 180 'stat.

What's goin' on here? The car came with a 6-banger, which was way longer front to rear than the little V8 you're using. You should have room for TWO mechanical fan systems.

I was thinking the same thing.

First, Cool car Area 51, I like the user name too. You gonna use the '53 grill or the '51? T.I., from the photos it appears to have a MII front end grafted in and the engine isn't set back as far as it could be. The mounts are welded in, quite well, I might add. Looks like he's stuck with fan clearance issues. Far as the fix, I'd try a higher cfm fan first and if it helps some but not enough, the start looking into a radiator with more efficiency. Just my opinion though. AREA51 would be a cool license plate on a '51. olnolan

Another bungled swap. I wish I had a nickel......
As I said in another thread, I just don't go out to the amateur car shows like I used to. I can't stand looking at the butchered cars any more.

Somehow I doubt the car is bungled OR butchered by what I could tell from the photos. Just needs sorted out, seems more likely.

Area51, I didn't see any engine bay shots in your photo gallery- if you could either post a few or point my tired eyes to the page they're on, I'd appreciate it.

You have your opinion and I have mine.
As a result of my 50+ years of hot rodding, It is my opinion that if you don't have room to put a mechanical fan arrangement into a '51 Chevy with a SBC, then the installation was bungled, as in....done by someone who should have kept their hands in their pockets and had no business trying to put a SBC into a '51 Chevy.

Your damned right I have an opinion- and were I to give it, I'd likely be in trouble w/the moderators.

Suffice to say-in this regard, you don't have enough to go on to say any such thing as "butchered" OR "botched".

But I know that won't stop you, nor should it.

Now, may your many supporters rally to sooth your bruised ego. LOL
