electric fan temp switch g.m.
Hello all,
not sure if this question should be here or in the engine area..
I am installing an electric fan in my 71 c-10.. and tho. painless makes a kit, It's just a relay and a temp switch and wire..
looking for a temp switch that closes(on) at 190-195* and opens at 180*(off)
was thinking a mid eighties f body but can't find the specs of when it turned the fans on and what temp it shut them off.. maybe a 94 b body?
any help.. thanks..

For what it is worth, I equipped my 72 C10 with the flexalite variable speed fan controller. You cant beat this, a bit more cash but well worth it and it has operated flawless for years:

Modulating soft start control is also easier on the fan motor, just to name one benefit

thats nice,, but 99.00 I'm doing the jeep fan in the c-10 scroud,, the fan new was 59.00 from mother mopar.. maybe if I was installing a costly fan.. the thermal switchs are 39.00 new.. I'll do that if I can't find a stock part that I can get at a junkyard crawl.. no point is spending money,(real money) till I know what engines going in this down the road.. will it be a 355 or 496, both are on hand,, if this truck stays d.d. duty, it'll get a g.m. crate 96-02 truck vortec.. moneys an issue, as I'm out on medical leave from work.. so cheap is good..
thanks at least it gives me options

Google "Derale" , they make a few products that may work.

Summit Racing has what you need.
Don't forget the use a 180* thermostat.

While costly, the Dakota Digital unit is a very solid unit. I like the fact that I have a test mode..... it allows me to turn the fans on/off etc....... giving me a piece of mind that fan one is coming on when it should then fan two etc...... I am ver pleased with mine.
