Post electric fans

like to know if i am on right track or still in the pits. Heres what i have done....installed 2 electric fans from early 80s toyota, wired to 30amp relay, relay to dash switch, power to relay direct from battery with 12gau. wire with inline fuse(i think inline fuse wire to small 14 gau.) Power lead for both fans run as one to relay, both grounded to rad support. Problem was that wire on inline fuse melted(good thing fuse worked) Is it okay to run relay direct to pos. batt.?

If you still are using only 14 guage wire, you will have a fire. Taking out the fuse will ensure this. Use 10 guage with an inline fuse as close to the power source/battery as possible.
