electrical problem 1976 mustang 2

he guys,my son bought 76 mustang 2,this car used to be his mothers car i have worked on it in the past(long time ago).car has sat for three years ran before that.he called me and said he replaced battery,starter,and starter soloniod.car won't start just a click battery dies.he didn't replace cables witch i told him to do.i'am going over soon any ideas on what i should look for.i have know idea what to look for since it has sat for so long.any thoughts are welcome.....thanks joe.

Hi Joe,
Did your son charge the new battery? because that's what it sounds like, click then dead, less then 10 volts in the battery,
charge the battery, clean the cable ends, clean the ground cable (both ends) w/tight connections & try again, don't try jumping it, have the battery charged.

thanks rich,thats something i never thought about.he is getting new cables so we will go from there.

Check the egine to body ground, also make sure the battery connections are clean and tight at both ends
