electrical questions

I have a part way completed electrical layout completed in a project truck I bought. The fusebox seems wired, the ignition also seems wired. the ga-zillion wires coming from the area of the fuse box all have little numbers on them that coorispond to where they go and I have a diagram of what numbers are what locations.
my question is this. same numbers are on the back of the speedo. so since I would imagine all the long wires go to their locations taillights etc. what goes to the back of the speedo?

You will need the instruction book on the speedo you have.
Electric speedos require a sender on the transmission which will have wires that connect to the speedo, usually 3 wires.
The harness will only provide 12 volts ignition ON, ground and instrument light.

ok, i guess i am thinking long wires w/ numbers matching a book that says their taillights would be taillights... from the fuse box? the speedo has number matching electrical wires and what I would call female connections ends. that wiring kit wouldnt have had long wires to get ot everywhere just to run the foot to the speedo would it?
