electronic 4 barrel

Hey guys ,just bought a 85 Chevy 4x4 w/305 .My question is -if I install a normal 4 bbl. and a normal HEI (non-computerized) will it affect my lock-up in my 700 -4r trans?

the computerized HEI and the electronic Q jet only control spark knock, switching to an early pre computer HEI will defeate the need for the computer controlled q jet.

Don't like current 4bbl.(junk) I'm really only worried about trans lockup as in computer not sending signal to trans because of removal of other parts .

Doc here,

Is this a FULL blown computer (not module) , with EST Distributer, and TBI?

If so the TCC goes to the RAWL Diode module AND the PPL / Black back to the c2 terminal on the computer AND needs support to operate properly.

So the question is, which is yours?

it is a electronic Q-jet 4bbl.not a TBI.Think it's GM's early attempt at fuel mileage , etc.

just spark knock control. If you have a 700 R trans than the lockup is electronicly controlled, but you can bypass it with a lockup switch as long as it's in 4th, summit sellls a kit

Doc Here,

OK, the Carb is a 4 EME ..Then..Has a throttle positioner sender on the left front, and a Fuel Solenoid on the right front.

A Switch kit like Matt Suggested will work fine..
