eliminating kickdown cable on a turbo 350

I want to eliminate the kick down cable on my 350 turbo .I have seen this done, but dont' know how to go about it. I know the hole can be plugged with a small soft plug, but what about the part the cable hooks to in the transmission ??

I believe you have to remove the pan and then remove a "C" clip to get that out where you can install the plug.
